New 10 minutes per day

My name is Jeanne O- from Pleasant Valley NY - My own blog is attached to this blog - www.oberrieth.blogspot.com. I want to join but I have some questions-
1. Will you be moderating this once a month on the Quilt Studio?- The Diva""
2. is there a certain size you are interested in? On your first notice it sounds like you
only want any project that needs to be finished.
3. My recent work has been wall hangings or journal quilts- more textile art than traditional.
Is that OK?

I am looking forward- for 4-5-2008

Quilt Every Day

I just posted a challenge I'd like to extend to all my Quilt Studio friends: Take 10 minutes each day in March to spend on a quilting project. At the end of the month show off all you accomplished! Details and how to join here.

one more QOV

Here's the second of the two QOV's that I promised to quilt recently. The binding and label are on, so the two quilts will get packaged up and mailed to New Mexico at the end of this week. This is another one that Debra assembled from some donated blocks.

sorry

I have no idea how or why, but Quilt Studio was moved on my dashboard the to top spot, so I accidentally posted something that should be on my regular blog. I deleted, it, but I just wanted to let you know in case you see it in bloglines...

QOV quilts

I (Sande) finally finished and shipped the 2 QOV quilts started last year for Quilt Studio. Thanks to Deb Geyer for the beautiful job she did on the quilting and to Debra Spincic for the lovely embroidered labels she sent to me for them. The first one is infant sized, made from the leftovers of the larger second one. Here are some pictures:

Hello, everyone. I just wanted to invite you all over to my blog to see my quilt. I have finally gotten it basted and now I am ready to quilt. This is all hand pieced and I've been working on it since 1997...a long haul...I hope you get a chance to stop by!

another Quilt of Valor

Debra sent me a couple of lingering quilt-tops to quilt recently, for the Women's Trauma Center, and here's the first one done. I believe that she assembled it using some orphan blocks that Pam Patton donated. I was pretty scared of this one because (I confess) I'm not a Sunbonnet Sue fan -- but this was fun to quilt and I like the way it turned out! I did a simple meandering loops and stars pattern on it. I'll wait to mail it off until I get the second one done -- probably mid-February due to some travel plans coming up.

Quilt of Valor

Here is one of the finished quilts from the 40 Quilts Service Project started in 2007.

Assembly, Finish and Label from Debra
Machine Quilting from Jeri

It will be sent to the Women's Center in New Mexico for female soldiers suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.

Thanks to the lovely ladies involved in this great project!

New 12x12 journal Moments of Silence

I am submiting a new journal - the last one for this year because it has great meaning for me. It is a reproduction of a greeting card I gave my husband 2 years ago. but it has great sentimental significance for us. We have been thru some tough times these last 4 months and he was my support. It is the image of two lovers at a train station. (it has been changed from the original card) If you check by blog you will find one more textile art piece which I made for my neighbor Flory. http://www.oberrieth.blogspot.com/

Merry Christmas

Catching up

There are a few 12x12 journals which I have not completed. Catch up time. In the past I had a series of journal quilts for a group in Somers NY- It was called the Giraffe Series and they were shown at a local art gallery. Right now between the holidays and cancer treatment it has been a tough to keep up. I have completed a baby quilt - niece- Elise and a baby bunting for my first grandson Noah. 5mos old. Still quilting - knitting for hand therapy-- finished a hat, wall hanging yet to be completed for lovely neighbor- fall leaves yellow/red from photo. Amidst every thing I am still here and living life to fullest.

Fran's November 12 x 12 Grandfather's Stash

This is my first experiment in using the colors and textures of my nature photos as fabric pattern, rather than as figural images, for the construction of a quilt. I chose colors and textures that would be evocative of a November day in my part of the world. The name "Grandfather's Stash" comes from the Native American use of the name Grandfather for the Creator.

More information on this quilt can be seen on my blog, Toad Haven Annex.

Late Journal June 2007- Mosaic"

Sorry to say I am catching up. Here is a 12x12 journal called ""Mosaic"" which is part of a series post cards that I was already committed to. The idea came from a post card sent to me from Kristine. Her's looked liked a snake skin so I ran with it. In additioned the fabric is part of the batiks I used for my cancer scarf. This time it was interesting layering many batik fabrics, tulle, metallic and rayon threads.

Fran's June 12x12 June is Bustin' Out All Over

Here is my finally finished June piece. It is my interpretation of an old favorite song using my own photos printed on prepared cotton photo sheets, fused onto the already quilted background quilt, and machine stitched with invisible thread.

For details please check out my blog.
